Congratulations to Watchet Vikings, our U13 girls – who came Runners-up yesterday.
The annual Bishops Lydeard tournament – always an exciting date in the diary, was threatening being a washout with forecast thunderstorms overhead. But the skies held up pretty well, with a few downpours creating fast, skidding pitches giving everyone something to think about, not least the goalkeepers.
The Vikings were drawn against Bishops Lydeard Pride first which they won 2-0
In the second match, the team lost 3-0, it’s not often that the Vikings lose by such a margin, but Larkhall were well deserving of their victory in this one (and indeed the tournament eventually). With 3 of their players apparently playing for Bristol City, we knew the standard would be high.
Two 0-0 draws followed with Wellington Wildcats and Lydeard Lionesses, and then the Vikings finished off their fixtures with a 6-0 win against Wellington Town.
The girls played great and have demonstrated repeatedly over the season that they are able to find different ways to win. The Vikings finished with runners-up trophies ahead of four other teams, 4 clean sheets in 5 games is a very respectable performance.
Well done everyone 👏
